Hey Cadets!

It's the last day of the holidays already. Hope you guys have finished up your homework, and had sufficient rest to start off the new term tomorrow!

"Goals are dreams, but with a plan and a deadline."
Just to put on your thinking caps for a while before we enter the new term. Think, what are the aims you have for yourself for term 3? Be it in Red Cross, academics, or anything and everything. Do you want to pass more accreditations? Or do you want good grades? Learn new things? What are the goals you hope to achieve? And how are you going to ensure that you achieve your goal? Through hard work? The right attitude? Hope you will think about this.

Ok, back on track. In the following term, there would be lots of activities and competitions coming up. The CAC, FDC, National Heritage Trail, home visits and so on. For the secondary 1 cadets, this might be a new experience for you. But let's hope it would be a fun, yet, also a learning experience for all of us!

Alright, so I have a reminder for the CAC cadets involved in both the booth and drama categories. For those in the Booth Category, you are to meet Miss Kaur right after school tomorrow. And as for those in the Drama Category, your meetings are to be confirmed soon.

Another thing I want to address about would be about those cadets who went for the NDP marching contingent! Congrats to you guys for standing strong in the parade rehearsals, for making new friends, and hopefully it was a good experience for all of you! It was right?! Heard you guys had heaps of fun yesterday! Though it was tiring, but it was still worth it! GOOD JOB! We are proud of you cadets~!
Now, there are some things that we hope you can think about from yesterday's experience:
1) How was the experience? Was it tough? Was it more fun? And elaborate on why.
2) What do you think about the standard of the trainings?
3) Who helped you along? The V/Is? The friends you made there?
4) What have you learnt from the experience?
5) What do you think you can improve on for the next training session of NDP?
--> Please write this down in your notebooks, each question should have at least 30 words.

(To those others, especially secondary 1s, who did not get to join, don't worry if you are interested, there is still a chance next year! And there are also many more HQ events to join so we hope you guys can participate more in events like this in future!)

Oh, and before June ends, on behalf of all of Red Cross, to SGT Fatimah, SGT Steffi, CPL JieNing and CPL Teck Chin, we wish you guys Happy Birthday!! You guys are a year older than before~ Hope you had/have/will be having a good day! Have a great year ahead, always stay happy with your wonderful smiles!

Alright cadets. That's all for today. Please remember to check the blog regularly for more updates! Training will resume on Friday the 1st of July. Hope you have had an enjoyable holiday! We hope you will be more hyped up for the new school term! We expect more enthusiasm for the next trainings! We Herons, wish all of you cadets all the best for the next term. Remember to work towards your goals! Work hard!

OKAAAAY, LISTEN UP SEC 2 CADETS!

Tomorrow you guys will be going for your first ever ndp training.
But, because you guys are joining in the middle, the other cadets there are more experienced but try your very best! The NCOs know you guys can do it.

Also, the standard you all will be doing is HQ standard. Let me tell you all, it's far more better than our current unit standard. Remember, do your 90s properly and say the timing. And do your footdrill sharply and smartly. Maintain a good posture and face your head up 45 degrees and pull ur shoulders back!

During NDP trainings, do NOT ever complain and talk nicely. You guys will learn a lot from these ndp trainings so goodluck! Jiayou!

Here is the uniform guidelines. Please PLEASE put in a lot of effort in your uniforms tonight. Their uniform check is strict. If you guys have any questions, feel free to msg me or any other ma'ams.

Go to the link above and click download!

But please go visit this website www.rcyndp10.blogspot.com and scroll down to see the picture of the two cadets wearing the uniform!

Try to make friends at there, don't just stick around with your own friends. Because you guys will be quite clueless tomorrow, try to make friends and ask!
Oh ya, here is the RCYNDP2011 blog link : www.rcyndp2011.blogspot.com

Sec 2s, you guys can do it!
Persevere for the ndp trainings and make PRSSRCY proud of you guys :)

P/S: Sleep early tonight and drink lots of water :)

NCOs Herons

Notebooks!

Hey Cadets!

It's the last few days of holidays remaining. Enjoy it to the fullest if you can! Finish up your homework if you hadn't! Either ways, please still remember to go for training tomorrow, and for the selected secondary 2 cadets, there is still NDP rehearsal this Saturday, so please take note!

Alright, so I am posting today about your Red Cross notebooks.
We have decided that each cadet must have a notebook for Red Cross. It will be for you to write questions or comments or anything you want to tell us on every trainings, for your reflections, and all. Requirements of the notebook would be that it has to be around A5 size, and less than $2.00.

As for the type of notebooks you want to use, we leave it up to you, BUT, it must be STANDARDIZED within your own PLATOON!!

You can decide within yourselves whether you want to use the school's exercise book or any other type of notebooks. An example would be the one below:

You can get this at $1.50 each at Popular, and, it comes in many colours too!

Please note that you only have to standardize the TYPE of notebooks you want to get, as for the colours and additional decorations, it's all up to you yourself to decide, no need to standardize that.

We really hope that you can TRY to get the notebooks ready by training tomorrow (24.06.2011). Perhaps you guys can meet up within yourselves tomorrow to get it or something. If there isn't enough, or out of stock or something then, just tell us. We just need you guys to TRY your best to get it by tomorrow. We understand that this might be a little bit of a last minute notice to some of you so please take the initiative to inform your own platoon mates when you see this post.

For those who have problems (financially, etc..) on getting a notebook, please contact us ASAP and we will see what we can do about it.

Please ask if you have any questions regarding this too.

And Important thing to take note of here! Training hours for tomorrow has been brought forward to 1400h and will end by 1700h. Attire will remain as mufti. And the things to bring are the same. Please remind your other platoon mates too! Thank you!

SGT Melanis

Footdrill Competition!

Hey Cadets!
As you guys know, there will be a lot of competitions coming up, which are:

  1. Board Games Conevention 2011

  2. Current Affairs Competiton

  3. Footdrill Competition

Alright, judging by the title of this post, I'm sure that you guys will know what I'm going to talk about right?

*drums ROLLING*

That's right!

FOOTDRILL COMPETITION 2011
PRSSRCY have not taken part in this competition since Heather's Maam batch, which i think none of you would know. SO, basically, it is something new for our unit to join. But, rest assured, we have 77 days before the competition which will be on 3 September 2011.

Okay now let me show you some videos on FDC. Enjoy!

It may be blur, but see how well co-ordinated they are!

Next up, Boys Brigade!

Look at those cool macho guys move!

Lastly, RCY from Evergreen Secondary!

Champions in West District!

Looks tough? I bet you guys will think that :

  1. I'm not even good at Footdrill!

  2. Ugh, FOOTDRILL! BORING!

  3. Oh no, under the hot sun again!

  4. How can we even do that when our standard is so low?

Am I right? But hey guys! It may be difficult, but it is not impossible. If they can do it why can't we? So now, let's don't waste time and start preparing for this competition. For the Sec 1s, we have conducted the audition, where 3 of you guys are selected. For those name who we did not mention, no worries! Prove to us that you are capable of being part of FDC in the next training. For Mergenser, we will have an audition for you guys too in the next training. So, we are expecting better and sharper execution of drills, alright?

Yes, I know that preparing for this competition, may be hard, but we must prove to the rest of the school that;

WE RED CROSS ARE CAPABLE OF DOING SOMETHING AWESOME
We will endure all of this as friends, as a unit, as a family. Remember, we can do anything, if we believe.
