Things you are required to bring for SFA:

2. Personal Medication (if required)
3. First Aid Notes (to revise along the way, of course)
4. TWO triangular bandages
5. TWO roller bandages
6. Ez-link card (containing at least $5 in value), for return trip
7. Passport sized photo of yourself (to be used in SFA certificate)

From the school, there will be a 1-way chartered bus to take you all to the Red Cross House at Dhoby Ghaut to take the exam. You will need to make the return trip yourself.
The exam should start at 2pm for the batch taking the exam on 6 Dec, and at 3pm for the batch taking the exam on 27 Dec. The Standard First Aid exam comprises as follows:

Theory Exam: 30 minutes long, 30 Multiple Choice Questions.
At least 60% of the MCQs must be answered correctly to pass the exam, meaning you must score in at least 18 of the MCQs. The theory exam must be passed to proceed to the practical exam. Cadets who fail their theory exam on their 1st attempt will be given a 2nd attempt on the same day. Failing the 2nd attempt, you will be asked to retake the SFA on another day.

Practical Exam: 10 minutes each, 2 scenarios.
Scenario 1: Unconscious Casualty,
Cadets are required to do a casualty survey & give the appropriate emergency first aid -  Heimlich Maneuver, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), or recovery position.
Scenario 2: Conscious Casualty,
Cadets are required to treat a bleeding wound and immobilize a fracture.
Dressing the wound must include the primary dressing, bandaging and
support.

For the fracture or dislocation, the possibilities may include:
1) Shoulder dislocation, 2) Ankle sprain,
3) Upper limb or Collar bone fracture,
4) Pelvis or lower limb fracture.

Failing the practical exam will lead you to have to retake the entire exam another day!

If you need the notes for SFA, they can be found in the Ask n Learn portal. You should all check it now.

Just a recap, the cadets taking SFA on 6 December are: Wei Quan, Hao Yu, Jovan, Yong Hao, Syamir, Nuryn, Zephan, Desiree, Shi Ni, Nathaniel, Thara, Nicholas, Keane, Jochanan and Amirah. At least 80% attendance is required, or the examiners may cancel the exam.

Do revise your first aid notes. You can also try to quiz/test your fellow cadet mates with questions to correct mistakes and clear doubts. As practice makes perfect, do try to practice your bandaging on your little brother/sister, with permission. (if you have one) If not, practice it on a willing friend. Best of luck for your Standard First Aid.

Take note of the following:
- Cut your nails short.
- Wear spectacle hooks.
- Tuck in your shirt at all times.
- Do not drag your footwear.
- Girls to tie bun and wear bun net, clip up fringe and feelers.
- Hair to be neat and presentable.
- Report on time.
